Mika Modiggård’s Rollercoaster Ride to Berlin Fashion Week
Emerging Swedish designer takes her second sustainable collection to the runway.

Berlin based Swedish designer, Mika Modiggård, brings her new eco-friendly collection to the Lavera Showfloor Berlin catwalk, part of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin, in July 2011.
Since the launch of her first collection, Second In Command, in February, Berlin based Swedish fashion designer Mika Modiggård has been busy. She was nominated by the Swedish Fashion Council as one of Sweden’s best up and coming designers in the 2011 Rookies competition for Stockholm Fashion Week. She has presented her business concept and designs to the Crown Princess of Sweden and will be participating in the NICE competition in Copenhagen. But for now all her creativity is focused on Berlin Fashion week where she willopen the Thursday night show for the runway series at Lavera Showfloor Berlin.
The label has dramatically increased its momentum in 2011. Second In Command is now available online and in select stores in Europe. But the protective armour that was the emerging designer’s inspiration for Second In Command is now being shed for the brave and cultivated sensibility of her new collection to be shown during Berlin Fashion Week in July.
The new collection, Rollercoaster, steps away from streetwear to create a chic and polished look for today’s stylish, eco-conscious woman. The garments combine ethically produced silk and satin with an array of other organic fibers and recycled leather for a green avantgarde look extending from the designer’s Swedish foundation to her home in Berlin.
Mika sees this new collection as a reflection of the rollercoaster she’s been on this past year: thrilling, filled with anticipation, and truly hair raising. “The fashion industry moves fast and often without considering the impact it has on the environment and the people within the system. If we focus on changing the way we make and buy our clothes we can reinforce a healthy and positive vision of the industry. My motto: ‘fashion, but not at any price’, means that we can still have a strong personal style without harming the environment, the people and ourselves.”
While keeping on track with the twists and turns of the industry, Mika Modiggård holds strong to her brand’s ethical identity, using sustainable methods without sacrificing fashion. Her designs prove that you can have beautiful, wearable fashion that fits your body and your eco- conscience.

Mika Modiggård’s Rollercoaster Kollektion auf dem Laufsteg

Die in Berlin lebende schwedische Designerin Mika Modiggård feiert diesen Sommer ihr Debüt auf dem Laufsteg – im Rahmen des Lavera Showfloor Berlin (Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week) am 7 Juli wird sie ihre 2. Eco-freundliche Kollektion zeigen.
Seit dem Launch ihrer ersten Kollektion, Second in Command, war die junge lebhafte Designerin permanent auf Achse. Der Swedisch Fashion Council nominierte Mika’s Kollektion bei der Rookies Competition 2011 als einer der viel versprechendsten und innovativsten unter allen swedischen Jungdesigner. Erst kürzlich, im Juni 2011 hat Mika ihre Kollektion samt ihrem Businesskonzept der swedischen Kronprinzessin während ihres Berlin Besuches präsentiert und steht die NICE Competition in Kopenhagen auf dem Program.
Zunächst aber gilt alle Aufmerksam und Konzentration der neuen Kollektion mit der Mika Modiggård den Showfloor Berlin Laufsteg am Donnerstag Abend eröffnen wird.
2011 war für das junge Label bis jetzt enorm erfolgreich- Second in Command ist sowohl im Online Store auf der Homepage als auch in ausgewählten Stores in Europa erhältlich.
Die jugendliche Unbefangenheit der ersten Kollektion hat Mika diesmal mit einer gesunden Portion Mut und Sensibilität versehen. Rollercoaster (Achterbahn) heisst das Ergebnis und ist ein Schritt weg vom Streetwear Style hin zu einem schicken und cleanen Look für die modeaffine, eco-bewusste Frau von heute.
Inspiriert und geleitet wurde Mika Modiggård bei Arbeit durch die Erlebnisse des letzten Jahres, die sie selbst als die reinste Berg und Talfahrt der Emotionen bezeichnet. Aufregend, voller Freunde – permanentes Gänsehautgefühl.
“Die Modeindustrie bewegt sich sehr schnell vorwärts, oft jedoch ohne die Auswirkungen auf die Umwelt zu bedenken. Wenn wir jedoch bereits bei der Herstellung als dann auch beim Kauf der Klamotten auf Umweltverträglichkeit und Nachhaltigkeit wert legen, wird dies langfristig die Denkweise der Industrie in eine positive Richtung lenken”. Mika´s Motto: “Fashion, aber nicht zu jedem Preis”, bekräftigt ihre Überzeugung das ein ausgefallener, starker individueller Stil auch ohne Schädigung der Umwelt ausgelebt werden kann.
Mika hält trotz der rasanten und reaktionsintensiven Entwicklungen im Fashion business an Ihren moralischen Grundsätzen einer Nachhaltigen Produktion fest. Ihre Kollektionen sind der beste Beweis dafür das angesagte, hochwertige und gut aussehende Mode auch die umweltverträglich optimale Passform haben kann.
